A deep green field left almost entirely open, with the decoration gathered into a wide floral frame around it — large naturalistic blooms, buds and serrated leaves on curling stems, worked in cream, grey-blue, russet and brown. The flowers are drawn in the European manner rather than the stylised Persian one: recognisable leaf shapes, shading built from tonal steps, stems that curve and cross. A camel-ground main border carries a scrolling leafy vine, framed by narrow dogtooth guard stripes, with a natural fringe at both ends.
Hand-knotted in wool. The open centre is the defining decision. On most rugs the field is the busiest part; here it is bare, so the pattern reads as a wreath laid around an empty middle. At 171×245cm that middle is roughly where a coffee table or a seating group would sit, which means the drawing stays visible around the furniture instead of disappearing under it — a practical advantage of the layout as well as an aesthetic one. The green is deep and slightly grey rather than emerald, and will read as a dark anchor in a pale room.
