This is a true paradise-garden rug. From the base of a deep oxblood-red field rise flowering vases and blossoming plants, their stems unfurling into a dense garden of palmettes, rosettes, and curling vines in warm gold, ivory, sage, and rust. A small lobed medallion floats at the centre, while the whole surface teems with life — a woven vision of an eternal spring garden.
The deep wine-red ground reads almost black until the light catches it, then glows a rich oxblood that makes the gold floral work shimmer against it. A dark floral border of bold palmettes and rosettes, edged in gold and fine red guard stripes, frames the garden. Burgundy and gold lead the palette, lifted by ivory, sage-green, and touches of soft blue.
Hand-knotted on a cotton foundation with the tight double knot, the rug shows the very high knot density and intricate, pictorial drawing of a fine city-style weave — the vases, leaves, and blossoms rendered with remarkable detail. Warm, deep, and opulent, it is a natural centrepiece for a formal living or dining room. As a one-of-a-kind handmade piece, no other rug shares its exact colours, drawing, or character.
