Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A brick red field carrying an all-over lattice of interlocking scrolls in olive and gold — each unit a squared-off medallion with curled ends, linked to its neighbours so the whole field reads as one continuous trellis rather than a set of repeated motifs. Framing it is a wide meander border, the angular Greek key running unbroken around all four sides in cream and tan, closed by narrow dark guard stripes and a red selvedge. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in Ghazni wool, a highland Afghan fleece with a high lanolin content that gives the surface its faint sheen and helps it shed soiling. The red ground shows clear abrash — soft horizontal banding where one dye lot gives way to the next — which is normal in hand-spun wool and part of why the field has depth rather than flatness. At 88×274cm this is a true runner, suited to a corridor, a landing or a long kitchen. A dark red ground is forgiving of everyday marks, which makes this an easier rug to live with in a high-traffic space than a pale one.

100% Ghazni wool, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, and the lanolin in a highland fleece like this one gives it a degree of natural resistance to soiling.

The dark red ground hides everyday marks well, making this a practical choice for a corridor, though it will show lint and pale fibres more than it shows dirt. The abrash banding across the field is a feature of hand-spun wool and will not even out over time. A runner takes concentrated traffic down its centre line, so use a rug pad and rotate it end for end regularly.

Both the border and the field are built on the same idea: a line that never ends. The meander running round the border — the angular key pattern that turns through right angles and doubles back — reads as one continuous line folded on itself rather than a row of separate stamps, and on a runner that matters, because the eye follows it the full length of the rug and back. The field does the same thing in a softer register. Each scrolled unit hooks into the units beside and above it, so what looks at first like a grid of repeated medallions is really an unbroken trellis; there is no point where one motif stops and the next begins. Weaving this on a runner is harder than on a rectangle of ordinary proportions, because any drift in the lattice accumulates over nearly three metres and would show as the rows falling out of true against the straight border. Note also the abrash in the red ground — the wide horizontal banding is the wool changing dye lot, not a fault.
