Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

An open camel field carrying a single central column of small cruciform floral sprigs — a dark stem with paired leaf lobes in sage and cream and hooked terminals — with half-motifs of the same device running down both edges against the border. Wide multi-band borders of octagonal güls, star rosettes and dense geometric filler in near-black, salmon, sage and cream frame the field, and both ends close with a broad diagonal-lattice panel. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The motifs along the two field edges are halves, cut down their centre by the border, which places the field boundary through a column of ornament rather than between columns. At 81×305cm this is a runner for a hallway or a landing. An open camel ground is quieter than a gülled Bokhara but less forgiving — with little pattern to break them up, footmarks and vacuum tracks show more readily.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes this a practical choice for a corridor that gets real use.

The open field is the part that needs attention. With little pattern to break them up, footmarks, vacuum tracks and furniture-leg crushing all show more than they would on a gülled Bokhara, and any soft horizontal banding in the ground is abrash — the mark of hand-spun yarn dyed in small lots — which will not even out with time. A camel ground also sits at the pale end, so it marks more readily than a red or dark one.

Look at the ornament along the two edges of the field and you will see that it is halved. Each edge motif shows only its outer half — one leaf lobe, one hooked terminal, a pair of small green leaves — with the rest of it disappearing behind the border. The motifs running down the centre are whole, and about twice as wide. The halves are also staggered, sitting level with the gaps between the full ones rather than beside them.

That tells you something specific about how the rug was set out. The underlying pattern is a staggered repeat, and the weaver has put the field boundary straight through a column of motifs instead of through the space between columns, which makes the field exactly two repeat intervals wide. It is not the obvious choice. Cutting ornament in half at a border is something a designer avoids unless the intention is for the pattern to read as continuing past the edge — which is what happens here. The border crops the field rather than enclosing it, and over three metres the effect is that the eye travels outward as well as along.
