A hand-knotted Khan Muhammadi rug from Afghanistan, woven in 100% hand-spun wool. The coral-red field is laid out as an all-over diamond lattice, each compartment holding an eight-pointed star or a rosette in navy, cream and deep red, so the whole surface reads as a single continuous grid rather than a repeated motif.

A wide camel-gold main border carries navy palmettes and hooked tree devices, framed by fine navy and red guard stripes, with an ivory fringe at both ends. A one-of-a-kind piece.

This is the lattice version of the Khan Muhammadi, and it works quite differently from the medallion and flowering-plant versions woven alongside it. Instead of motifs placed on a ground, the diamonds tile the field completely, edge to edge, each one filled with a star or rosette so that no part of the surface is background. The effect at a distance is of a single woven texture; up close it resolves into dozens of small self-contained compartments, no two coloured quite alike. The camel-gold border is the other departure — warmer and lighter than the reds and navies these rugs usually frame themselves with, and it lifts the whole piece considerably.

Returns We accept returns within 7 days of delivery. Items must be unused and in their original condition. To start a return, contact our customer support. For a defective or incorrectly shipped item, we cover the return cost and arrange a replacement or refund. For returns due to personal preference such as size, colour, or a change of mind, return shipping is paid by the customer.
