Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A cream field worked all over in fine scrolling vine and small blossoms, with a radiating medallion at its centre built from concentric rings of tiny motifs around a single small rosette. Large scrolling acanthus forms fill the corner spandrels, drawn with a European fullness rather than the flat symmetry of a classical Persian spandrel. A camel-gold main border of flowering vine frames it, with several narrow guard stripes and a natural fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool at a fine gauge. Where a strongly coloured rug separates its elements by contrast, this one is deliberately tonal — cream and gold carry almost the whole design, with coral, rose, teal and sage appearing only as small accents inside the motifs. That makes it a quieter rug in a room, and it means the drawing has to be very precise, since nothing is being held apart by colour. At 204×308cm this is a large room rug, big enough for a full seating group or a dining table with chairs pulled out. A pale ground of this kind shows traffic and spills readily.

This is a fine, hand-knotted piece that rewards a little extra care. 100% wool pile with a natural fringe at both ends.

A pale, tonal rug is the least forgiving kind. There is no strong colour to disguise a mark, and at this size much of the field sits in open floor rather than under furniture. A fine pile also crushes under furniture legs more readily than a coarse one, so a rug pad matters here.

Working tonally is harder than working in contrast. When a design uses strong colours, each element is held apart from its neighbour by colour alone and the drawing can be approximate; here almost everything is cream, gold or a shade between, so the separation has to come from line. Look at how the vine crosses behind a blossom and emerges the other side still on its own path — in a tonal scheme that only reads if the outline is exact, because there is no colour change to rescue it. The medallion is built the same way as on a strongly coloured Tabriz, as concentric rings of small motifs around a single rosette, but each ring here differs from the next by a half-step of value rather than a change of hue. The corner spandrels are the other thing to notice: large scrolling acanthus forms with a European fullness to them, quite unlike the flat symmetrical spandrel of a classical Persian design, and a reminder of how much European ornament entered Persian workshop weaving in the nineteenth century.
