A crimson field carrying three columns of Turkmen güls in cream, apricot and black, with a small cruciform minor gül standing between every group. Each gül is quartered by a cross and the quarters are coloured in diagonal pairs — cream at top left and bottom right, apricot at top right and bottom left — which sets a quiet rotational rhythm running across the whole field. Deep multi-band borders of rosettes and diamond lattice frame it, with a broad end panel at each end and cream fringe.

Hand-knotted in wool. The crimson is bright and clear rather than the deeper madder used on many Bokharas, which puts more contrast behind the cream and apricot and makes the güls read as distinct shapes rather than as texture. At 156×254cm this is a room-sized rug suited to a sitting room or under a small dining table. A strong red ground hides everyday marks well, which makes it practical for a space that gets real use.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, and a room-sized rug spreads wear over a large area rather than concentrating it.

The strong red ground hides everyday marks well but shows lint and pale fibres more than it shows dirt. Use a rug pad, particularly under furniture legs.

Every gül on this rug is divided into four quarters by a cross, and the colours are not distributed at random. Look at any one: the top-left and bottom-right quarters are cream, the top-right and bottom-left are apricot. The pairing runs diagonally, so each gül carries a faint sense of rotation, like a pinwheel caught mid-turn, and because every gül is oriented the same way that rotation repeats identically across the entire field. It is a very old Turkmen convention and it is the reason a gül field never looks quite static even though nothing in it moves. Check a few and you will find the rule holds without exception, which is itself a mark of careful weaving — a single gül with the pairing reversed would stand out immediately once you know to look. Between the large güls sit smaller cruciform minor güls, a second emblem that alternates with the first.
