A crimson field carrying twelve lozenge medallions in a single column, each drawn in sea green and cream with an eight-point star at its centre and small hooked devices around it. The medallions meet point to point so the column reads as one continuous chain, and the crimson survives as triangular pockets to either side. Deep multi-band borders of diamonds and rosettes in cream, rose and navy frame the whole, and cream fringe finishes both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The sea green is unusual in this weave, which normally works in cream, apricot and black against red — a cool colour against a warm ground gives the medallions more separation than a warm one would, and is why the chain reads clearly from standing height. At 78×296cm this is a runner for a hallway or a landing, and a crimson ground hides everyday marks well.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes this a practical choice for a corridor that gets real use.

The crimson ground hides everyday marks well but shows lint and pale fibres. A runner takes concentrated traffic down its centre line — here exactly where the medallion chain sits — so use a rug pad and rotate it end for end regularly.

Twelve medallions across just under three metres puts one roughly every twenty-five centimetres, which is close to a walking stride. That is not an accident of drawing so much as a consequence of the format: a repeat much tighter than this becomes texture you stop registering, and much looser leaves long empty stretches between events. At this interval you pass about one medallion per step, which is why a well-proportioned runner feels measured to walk along rather than merely long. Look at how the medallions meet. They touch point to point rather than sitting apart, so the column reads as one continuous chain and the crimson ground survives only as triangular pockets at the sides — the field has become the gaps rather than the background. The sea green is worth noting too. This weave normally works in cream, apricot and black on red; a cool colour against a warm ground separates more sharply, which is what keeps the chain legible from standing height.
