A warm golden field carrying a single column of medallions down the centre line — large stepped octagons with hooked outlines alternating with smaller ones, spaced apart rather than packed together, and linked by a fine vine. Small leaves, rosettes and hooked sprays are scattered across the open ground between them. Wide rose-and-grey borders of rosettes frame the whole, backed by narrow guard bands. Cream fringe at both ends.
Hand-knotted in wool with silk. The open field is the notable decision here: rather than filling the ground edge to edge, the design leaves generous golden space between the medallions, so the rug reads calm and light rather than dense. The silk carries the medallion interiors and the scattered motifs, lifting them off the matte wool ground as you move around the rug. At 79×285cm this is a runner for a hallway or a landing. A mid-toned golden ground shows marks less than a pale rug, though a silk-faced pile shows footprints in strong light.
