A near-black navy field carrying a column of three large concentric medallions, each ringed by sawtooth bands in red and green and a grey-blue band of small devices, with an apricot centre filled with a fine repeat of leaves and hooked sprays. Stepped arms run from the medallions out to the field edges. Very wide borders of dense diamond diaper in salmon, red and cream frame the field, with a band of small vase-and-tree devices, and a broad end panel of large diamonds closes the rug. Cream fringe at both ends.
Hand-knotted in wool. Every repeating pattern on this rug sits inside something — the medallion centres, the border bands, the end panel — and the field itself carries no repeat at all. At 77×254cm this is a short runner, suited to a small hall or a landing. A near-black ground is among the most forgiving colours for a corridor, though the cream and apricot will show wear before the field does.
