An ivory field carrying a dense scrolling arabesque of split leaves and small blossoms in rust, salmon and pale grey, with a large radiating medallion at the centre — boteh-shaped petals in salmon, cream and rust turning around a pale grey rosette — and a lobed pendant reaching from each end. Broad scrolling leaf forms fill the corners. A wide salmon main border of flowering vine frames the whole, backed by ivory guard bands, and a plain band above the fringe carries small ornamental cartouches at both ends. Grey-cream fringe at both ends.
Hand-knotted in wool at a fine gauge, fully curvilinear throughout. The palette is the unusual part: measured across the field, virtually every colour on this rug sits on the warm side of neutral, and the pale blue that appears at the centre of the medallion is not blue at all. At 200×302cm this is a large room rug, big enough for a full seating group or a dining table with chairs pulled out. Both the ivory field and the salmon border are pale, so this suits a considered room rather than a working one.
