Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A pale cream field carrying a pole of large hooked star medallions — each a stepped star with four broad comb-like arms radiating diagonally, and blocks of small hooked motifs filling the quadrants inside. The medallions keep the same shape all the way down but alternate ground colour, red then navy then red, so the rhythm comes from colour rather than form. Between them the field is scattered with small octagons, comb forms, eight-point stars and S-shaped marks. A wide red main border of diagonal serrated leaves frames it, backed by navy and cream guard stripes of rosettes, with cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. Everything is drawn rectilinearly — every hook, arm and star built from right-angled steps on the knot grid, with no curve anywhere in the rug. At 84×304cm this is a runner for a corridor or a landing. The cream ground is the one practical caution: it will show traffic more readily than the red and navy Sherwans do, so it suits a hallway that is walked rather than worked.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes a Sherwan a sensible choice for a corridor that gets real use.

The pale cream ground is the exception to that: it will show traffic and spills more readily than the red or navy grounds common in this weave. A runner takes concentrated wear down its centre line, and here the medallions sit squarely on it, so use a rug pad and rotate the rug end for end regularly.

Compare this with a runner whose medallions alternate in shape and the difference is instructive. Here the shape never changes — every medallion is the same stepped star with the same four comb-like arms — and the rhythm is carried entirely by colour, red ground then navy ground then red again. That is a harder thing to bring off, because a repeated silhouette risks reading as a queue, and it works only because the arms are large enough to interlock visually with the fillers around them. Look at those fillers: small octagons, comb forms, eight-point stars, and the little S-shaped marks scattered through the field. The S is one of the oldest motifs in Caucasian weaving and turns up across unrelated groups, usually read as a protective sign. They are not filling space at random — they sit in the gaps the medallions leave, which is why they appear in pairs flanking each arm. Everything is built on the grid: no curve exists anywhere in this rug, only staircases of right angles.
