Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

No medallion and no open field — the whole runner is divided into some twenty horizontal bands, each on its own ground colour and separated by narrow cream stripes. Red, navy, gold, teal, green, coral and brown follow one another down the length, and inside every band runs a row of stylised animals: long-bodied quadrupeds with hooked necks, alternating with candelabra-like trees. The border repeats the idea in miniature, a chain of small compartments each holding a pair of animals on its own coloured ground, closed by narrow dogtooth guard stripes. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in Ghazni wool, a highland Afghan fleece with a high lanolin content that gives the surface its sheen. Everything is drawn rectilinearly — the animals, the trees, even the small hooks are built from right-angled steps on the knot grid. At 91×405cm this is a wide, very long runner, over four metres, so measure the corridor carefully before committing. The palette is genuinely polychrome rather than dominated by one colour, which makes this a rug that will pick up almost anything already in a room.

100% Ghazni wool, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, and the lanolin in a highland fleece like this one gives it a degree of natural resistance to soiling.

The cream dividing stripes run across the full width at regular intervals and will show traffic sooner than the coloured bands around them. A runner takes concentrated wear down its centre line, and at over four metres that is a long stretch of rug — use a rug pad and rotate it end for end regularly.

A banded design solves a problem that a medallion cannot. On a rug over four metres long a single centre is too far from either end to hold the composition, and a repeated medallion down a pole starts to read as a queue. Bands sidestep both: the rug becomes a sequence rather than a picture, and the eye travels along it the way it would along a road. Each band here gets its own ground colour and its own row of animals, so the interest renews every few inches rather than depending on one focal point. Look at the animals themselves. They are long-bodied quadrupeds with hooked necks, drawn entirely from right angles because a knot cannot sit off the grid, and no two rows treat them quite the same way — the spacing shifts, the trees between them change height, and occasionally a small bird or a diamond fills a gap where the row ran short. That is a weaver working band by band rather than from a fixed cartoon, and it is why the border compartments do not line up with the bands they sit beside.
