Soft horizontal bands run the width of this rug in a gently faded palette — pale gold and tan, warm terracotta and rust, dusty sage and a band of soft teal-green at the foot, with taupe and mauve-brown threaded between. The tones are muted and sun-washed, like an antique striped textile, with no motif or border to interrupt the quiet rhythm of colour.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool rich in lanolin, the pile is dense, soft underfoot, and naturally resistant to everyday wear. The understated multi-tone stripe makes it easy to place, and the gentle striations of the weave mark it as a genuine one-of-a-kind piece.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

Gabbeh weaving strips a rug back to its essentials, and here the essential is colour itself. The weaver has stacked the field into soft horizontal bands — gold, terracotta, sage, taupe and teal — in tones deliberately muted so the whole surface reads as gently sun-faded rather than bright.
