Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A slate blue-grey field carrying two columns of quartered Turkmen güls in camel, cream, navy and red, running the entire length of the rug. Small cruciform devices and red flecks fill the channel between the columns. Multi-band borders of rosettes, hooked devices and diamond repeats in camel, cream and navy frame the field down both sides, and a broad end panel of star devices closes the rug. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. At 78×538cm this is an exceptionally long runner — nearly five and a half metres, close to eighteen feet — for a full corridor, a landing gallery or a long hall where an ordinary three-metre runner would stop short. A mid-toned blue-grey ground is reasonably forgiving of everyday marks.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which matters on a rug this length — it will be walked on along its whole run rather than crossed occasionally.

A mid-toned blue-grey ground sits between the extremes: it hides everyday marks better than a pale rug but not as well as a dark one. The cream in the güls and borders is the first colour to grey. On a runner this long, wear will be very uneven — the first few metres from the busiest doorway take far more traffic than the far end — so rotating end to end matters more here than on any ordinary rug.

The first thing to say about this rug is its length. At 538cm it is close to eighteen feet — long enough that most rooms cannot take it and most corridors will not need it, which is precisely why a runner this size is worth knowing about if you have the hall for it. Standard runners stop at around three metres; this is nearly twice that.

Length of this kind is a real technical demand rather than just more of the same. The loom has to be warped and kept in tension over the full run, and the two-column gül repeat has to hold its spacing from one end to the other — by the time the weaver reaches the last row, the first is five metres behind and long since rolled out of sight, so the rhythm is held by counting rather than by looking back. Any drift in the knot count shows up as a field that narrows or widens along its length, and over eighteen feet there is a great deal of room for that to happen. Sight down the rug from one end with it laid flat: the borders should stay parallel and the gül columns should hold their line the whole way.
