Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A slate blue field carrying three large medallions built like gateways: a pair of upright panels in cream and salmon flanking a dark blue centre panel, a stepped gable above them carrying a small finial, and a pendant hanging below. Every part is filled with a fine diamond diaper. Matching panels project inward from both field edges between the medallions. Wide multi-band borders of diamond diaper, rosettes and sawtooth in rose, cream, sage and navy frame the field, and a signature panel is woven into the outer border at the lower left. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The medallions are architectural rather than abstract — uprights, a lintel, a gable and a finial — so the field reads as three gateways one behind another rather than three diamonds. The rug is also signed, with a small woven panel in the outer border. At 78×316cm this is a long runner, suited to a corridor or a hallway. A mid-toned slate blue ground is reasonably forgiving of everyday marks.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes this a practical choice for a corridor that gets real use.

A mid-toned slate blue ground sits between the extremes — it hides everyday marks better than a pale rug but not as well as a dark one. The cream in the medallion uprights is the first colour to grey. The signature panel sits in the outer border at the lower left, close to the edge where a runner takes abrasion, so that corner is worth protecting if the signature matters to you.

Most rug medallions are abstract shapes — a diamond, an octagon, a lozenge — filled with ornament. These are not. Take one apart and it has parts that belong to a building: two upright panels standing side by side like columns, a horizontal panel held between them, a stepped gable resting on top of the pair, and a small finial standing on the apex of the gable. Below, a pendant hangs down where a keystone or a lamp would. It is drawn as a gateway, and once you have read it that way you cannot unsee it.

Three of them run down the rug, and the panels projecting inward from the field edges between them read as the walls either side. The effect on a runner is quite specific: because a gateway is something you pass through rather than look at, the rug gives you a sequence of thresholds to walk toward rather than a row of ornaments to look down on. That is a good fit for the one place a runner always goes. Look for the finial on top of each gable — a small stepped spike standing clear of the medallion on the open blue — which is the detail that settles it as architecture rather than as a diamond with a point.
