Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A terracotta field carrying six columns of Turkmen güls, drawn small and packed close so the rug reads as texture rather than as a row of separate emblems. Each gül is a rounded octagon quartered into blocks of espresso, ivory and slate, with small cruciform motifs standing between them. The framing is deep: several narrow guard bands of dogtooth and diamond, and at each end a broad elem panel of large stepped tribal forms in espresso and ivory. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. The gül count is the thing to notice — far more per square metre than a standard Bokhara, which takes considerably longer to weave and demands a finer knot for the quartered interiors to stay legible at this scale. The ground is a soft terracotta rather than the usual madder red, which keeps a densely patterned rug from feeling heavy. At 187×271cm this is a room-sized rug suited to a sitting room or under a dining table.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, and a room-sized rug spreads wear over a large area rather than concentrating it.

The mid-toned terracotta ground hides everyday marks reasonably well — better than a cream rug, less well than a dark one. The dense pattern is forgiving of light soiling, since there is no open ground for a mark to sit in. A rug pad is worth using under furniture legs, which crush a fine pile more readily than a coarse one.

Count the güls. Six columns and around fifteen rows gives roughly ninety of them, where a standard Bokhara of this size might carry thirty. That is not a decorative preference but a measure of work: each gül is quartered and filled with small hooked devices, and holding those legible at this reduced scale requires a much finer knot than a coarsely gülled rug. Density is the single most reliable indicator of quality in this weave, and it is something a buyer can check by eye in a few seconds. The gül itself is a tribal emblem rather than a flower — the shape identified the weaver's people the way a tartan identifies a clan. Note also the broad panels at each end. That band is the elem, or skirt, the section of a Turkmen main carpet that once lay beyond the seating area and was given its own design; here it carries large stepped forms quite unlike the field above it.
