This Gabbeh trades flowers for geometry: a chocolate-brown field is ruled into a grid by fine dotted lines, each square marked out with little dots like stitches, the whole panel held inside a wide plain cream border. It is a graphic, modern-feeling layout that still comes entirely from the tribal hand — knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun, naturally dyed wool, with the dots and lines drawn freehand so none are perfectly even.
