Care instructions

• Always use a rug pad underneath — a flatweave slips easily without one.
• Vacuum gently with the beater bar off, working along the weave rather than across it.
• Turn the kilim over every year — it is reversible and wears evenly if used both sides.
• Blot spills immediately, working from the outside in. Pale grounds mark more readily than dark ones.
• Have the kilim professionally cleaned when needed — never machine wash.

This is the quietest rug of its kind you are likely to find. The construction is identical to the boldest Afghan flatweaves — the same dense diamond lattice, the same ten-deep borders, the same soumak wrapping worked over the warps one at a time — but the entire palette is held within a few tones of pale gold, so none of it announces itself. What you read instead is relief: the embroidered lattice stands slightly proud of the ground and catches light along its edges, so the pattern appears and recedes as you move around the room or as the daylight changes. It is a rug for a pale interior where a strong colour would fight the walls, and it rewards being seen in person far more than in a photograph.
