A field of pure saffron gold, unadorned, lets the wool itself take centre stage — its fine horizontal texture catching the light in soft, shifting ways. Rather than directing the eye, it bathes a whole room in warm colour from the floor up.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool, it is soft, warm, and full of life, pairing beautifully with walnut wood, white walls, and green accents. A joyful rug, and as a hand-knotted piece, entirely one of a kind.

  • Origin: Afghanistan
  • Type: Afghan Gabbeh, hand-knotted
  • Material: 100% wool
  • Size: 149×222cm
  • Colour: Saffron gold
  • SKU: NG 811137

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

This is a rug stripped back to its essentials: a solid saffron gold field with no pattern or border, letting the wool itself be the design. The subtle horizontal texture of the hand-spun pile catches the light in gentle, shifting ways, giving a quiet, living depth. Rather than directing the eye, it fills a room with warm colour from the floor up. Small variations in tone and weave are the signature of genuine hand-knotting, the mark of a single weaver and a one-of-a-kind piece.
