A soft, faded design floats across a sandy oatmeal ground in the palest dusty blue and ivory, like a floral seen through mist or worn by time. Silk woven through the wool gives the muted colours a gentle glow, and the overall effect is calm, airy and quietly luxurious.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool and silk, the rug takes a transitional, abstracted floral and softens it almost to a watercolour. Naturally dyed and tied knot by knot, its washed palette is the signature of a single weaver and a true one-of-a-kind, a serene, elegant foundation made to last a lifetime.

Details

  • Design: Faded abstract floral
  • Colour: Oatmeal, dusty blue, ivory
  • Material: Hand-spun wool with silk
  • Technique: Hand-knotted
  • Origin: Afghanistan
  • Size: 129 × 189 cm (Small)
  • SKU: NGS 78170
  • One-of-a-kind: only one in existence
  • Material: hand-spun wool with silk highlights, hand-knotted
  • Vacuum gently on low suction without a beater bar; the silk areas are delicate
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth; never rub
  • Professional cleaning only for wool and silk blends; avoid home wet-cleaning and harsh chemicals
  • Use a rug pad, rotate periodically, and keep out of direct sunlight to protect the silk and colours
  • Light shedding is natural for hand-knotted pile and eases with time

This is the most understated end of the collection: a transitional floral washed back to soft shadows of itself, in sand, ivory and the faintest blue. Silk highlights catch the light so the near-neutral palette never feels flat.

Its quiet, pale colouring makes it endlessly easy to live with, adding texture and a whisper of pattern without competing with anything. As a hand-knotted one-of-a-kind in wool and silk, no other rug shares its exact shading.
