Fine horizontal streaks of teal, soft brown, cream and grey run the length of this hand-knotted Ghazni, blending into a shimmering, variegated surface like weathered driftwood or a calm sea horizon. There is no formal pattern — just the play of many close-toned colours knotted line by line, which gives the rug remarkable depth and movement.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool rich in lanolin, the pile is dense and soft underfoot and naturally resistant to everyday wear. Every strand is a separate hand-dyed colour, so the streaks drift and change along their length — the mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made rug.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

This is a colour study rather than a pattern: the weaver mixes many close tones — teal, brown, cream, grey and hints of blue — and lays them down in fine horizontal streaks, so the whole field shimmers and shifts like weathered wood or water. Each colour is a separate hand-dyed batch of wool, knotted line by line in Afghanistan, which is why the surface has such depth and never repeats — the honest signature of a hand-made piece.
