Emerald Medallion Tabriz, Hand-Knotted Pakistani Wool Rug

At its heart, a round floral medallion blooms on a deep forest-green pool, ringed by a pale ivory sub-field, and then wrapped in layer upon layer of red and gold floral borders. The effect is ceremonial and richly traditional — a classic Tabriz medallion rendered with Kashan-like density and colour.

The drawing is extraordinarily detailed: the green centre is packed with curling vines and blossoms, the ivory frame scattered with delicate flowers, and the deep-red main border set with green floral medallions and gold scrollwork, finished with a band of gold paisleys (boteh). Emerald green, deep garnet red, and warm gold play against each other across the whole surface, with touches of rose, sage, and ivory bringing the floral work to life.

Hand-knotted on a cotton foundation with the tight double knot, the rug shows the high knot density and controlled, intricate drawing of a genuinely fine weave — a piece made to anchor a formal living or dining room for generations.
