Only one available — one-of-a-kind.

A column of serrated star medallions running the full length of a bright red field, each one edged with latch-hook points that radiate outward like a sunburst. What makes it worth looking at is that no two are the same colour: they run through sea green, gold, indigo, teal, apricot, ivory and back again, with small stepped lozenges and star flowers filling the ground between them. A wide cream main border of rosettes and eight-point stars frames it, backed by indigo and rust guard stripes in a barber-pole twist, with a red selvedge and cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. Everything is drawn rectilinearly — the serrations, the medallion outlines, even the flower heads are built from steps rather than curves — which is the mark of village weaving rather than workshop drawing. The red ground carries visible abrash, wide horizontal bands where one dye lot gave way to the next. At 81×309cm this is a runner for a corridor or a landing. A saturated red ground is practical in a busy space and hides everyday marks far better than a pale rug would.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes a Kazak a sensible choice for a corridor that gets real use.

The abrash banding in the red ground is a feature of hand-spun, small-lot dyed wool rather than a fault, and it will not even out over time. A runner takes concentrated traffic down its centre line, so use a rug pad and rotate it end for end regularly.

Count the medallions and then count the colours: there are as many of the second as the first, because the weaver has coloured no two alike. That is the tell of a village rug. A workshop weaving from a squared cartoon repeats a medallion exactly down the length of a runner, since the cartoon fixes both the shape and the palette; here only the shape repeats, and each medallion is dressed differently as the weaver reaches it. The serrated edges are latch-hooks, a Caucasian device for making a shape read as radiant without drawing a single curve — every point is a right-angled step, because a knot cannot sit anywhere but on the grid of warp and weft. The same logic governs the border, where even the rosettes are octagons rather than circles. Look too at the barber-pole guard stripes flanking the main border: two colours twisted along a diagonal, which on a grid means alternating one knot at a time.
