A wine red field carrying two columns of Turkmen güls — rounded octagons, each quartered and filled with small hooked devices in cream, teal and apricot — running the full six metres of the runner, with a small cruciform motif between every pair. Narrow multiple borders frame it: a band of diamonds, a row of small güls, and several fine guard stripes, all worked in the same restricted palette as the field. Cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. At 76×609cm this is an exceptionally long runner — just over six metres, twenty feet — which puts it well beyond the reach of most domestic corridors. Measure carefully, and note that a rug this long is difficult to turn in a stairwell or a tight hallway. The wine red ground shifts noticeably along its length, from a deeper oxblood at one end to a lighter rose at the other; that is abrash, the mark of hand-spun wool dyed in small lots, and on a plain-ground rug of this scale it is unavoidable and part of the character.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes this a practical choice for a corridor that gets real use.

The abrash banding along the length is a feature of hand-spun, small-lot dyed wool and is especially pronounced on a runner this long. It will not even out over time. At six metres this rug is also heavy and awkward to handle — rolling rather than folding it is essential, and two people are needed to move it safely.

A gül is a tribal emblem rather than a flower, and the Turkmen groups each carried their own — the shape identified the weaver's people the way a tartan identifies a clan. The rounded, quartered octagon here is the one that became the commercial standard, repeated in even columns rather than scattered, which is what distinguishes a Bokhara from the Jaldar drawn with angular diamond güls. The discipline of the layout is the point: two columns, identical spacing, the same small cruciform between every pair, held without deviation over six metres. Any drift in the row spacing would accumulate into a visible skew by the far end, and there is nothing in a plain field to hide it. Watch the ground colour instead of the pattern and you will see the rug change — deeper at one end, lighter at the other. That is abrash, and on a runner this long a weaver will go through many dye lots; the shifts are a record of the making rather than a fault.
