Red and Green Khan Muhammadi Runner, Hand-Knotted Wool

A finely hand-knotted Khan Muhammadi runner from Afghanistan, woven in 100% hand-spun wool. The deep red field carries an all-over lattice of large lobed rosettes, alternating navy and red, each filled with a complete little garden of palmettes and leaves in green, gold, cream, salmon and pale blue, with smaller cross-form panels linking them.

A wide navy main border of palmettes and flowering vine frames the design, stepped out through ivory and green guard stripes. At 299cm long and 81cm wide this is a true runner, made for a hallway or a long kitchen. A one-of-a-kind piece.
