A rich mustard-gold field frames a bold abstract composition in this hand-knotted Ghazni — deep black blocks and rectangles that dissolve at their edges into a scatter of golden dots, like sparks drifting off charred wood. It is a striking, contemporary, almost painterly design: graphic and modern, yet warmed by the glow of natural gold wool and the soft irregularity of the hand-drawn forms.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense, soft underfoot and hard-wearing. The gold and black are built from natural dyes, so the field carries gentle abrash and the stippled edges are placed knot by knot — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

This is a modern Gabbeh — the tribal loom turned to abstract, contemporary art. Bold black blocks float on a glowing mustard-gold field, their edges breaking into a fine spray of golden dots that suggests movement and light. Woven in Afghanistan from natural-dyed highland wool, it carries the soft, living irregularity of the hand while reading as clean and modern — every dot placed by hand, the fingerprint of a one-of-a-kind piece.
