Rows of small garden panels fill this finely hand-knotted Ghazni, each little compartment framing its own tribal motif — a flowering vase, a cypress, a star, a blossoming tree — worked in warm reds, blues, gold, rust and cream and set against a soft, silvery sage-green ground. Known as a garden or ‘khesti’ design, it gathers dozens of miniature rugs into one, joyful and endlessly detailed, framed by a calm plain border.
Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from fine, hand-spun Ghazni highland wool — prized for its softness, lustre and durability — the pile is dense and finely knotted, giving crisp detail in every panel. Coloured with natural dyes and worked entirely by hand, the gentle abrash and slight variations between compartments mark it as a genuine one-of-a-kind piece.
