Multicolour Tribal Stripe Ghazni, Hand-Knotted Afghan Wool Rug
Only one available — one-of-a-kind.
Narrow bands of tribal pattern stack the full length of this hand-knotted Ghazni — rows of hooked diamonds, botehs, running dogs, squares and dotted lines in red, teal, gold, purple, green and apricot. Each stripe carries a different motif and colour, giving the rug the lively, improvised feel of a nomadic Gabbeh where no two bands repeat.
This is the khorjin, or saddlebag, tradition — a village and nomadic way of weaving in which the field is composed entirely of small striped registers, here closed by warm red kilim ends. Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is soft and lustrous and the many natural dyes glow with a gentle abrash. Worked entirely by hand, every band is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.

Care instructions
- Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
- Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
- Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
- Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
- Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.
Ghazni rugs are woven by Afghan weavers near the city of Ghazni, often in the soft, natural-dyed wool of a Gabbeh. This piece follows the khorjin, or saddlebag, tradition, where the field is built from many narrow stripes, each carrying its own small tribal motif in a different colour. There is no medallion and no set repeat — the pattern simply flows band by band, a nomadic way of weaving that makes each rug entirely one of a kind.
