A warm red field is filled edge to edge with a dense all-over lattice of small serrated diamonds and star-flowers in gold, blue, green and cream in this hand-knotted Afghani Sherwan. A broad ivory border of güls, hooked diamonds and serrated star medallions, flanked by navy guard stripes, frames the shimmering ground. It has the fine, jewel-like repeat of a classic Shirvan village weave.
Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense and finely knotted, giving sharp definition to every motif and border. Coloured with natural dyes and worked entirely by hand, the tones glow with gentle abrash and every figure is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.
