Soft, tonal blooms unfold across a dusky brown field in this hand-knotted rug, the large flowers and curling leaves drawn only a shade or two lighter than the ground for a quiet, faded-damask effect. There is no border to interrupt it — the all-over floral simply runs to the edge, giving the piece a calm, contemporary feel that settles easily into a room.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool rich in lanolin, the pile is dense and soft underfoot and naturally resistant to everyday wear. The muted brown and ivory are achieved with natural dyes, so the ground shifts gently across the field — the mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made rug.

  • One-of-a-kind: yes

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

This is a ton-sur-ton floral: the weaver has worked large blossoms and leafy scrolls only a shade lighter than the brown ground, so the pattern reads as a soft, faded damask rather than a bold contrast. Drawn freehand and knotted by hand in Afghanistan from hand-spun, naturally dyed wool, the motifs vary slightly across the field and the brown deepens and lightens in gentle abrash — the quiet fingerprint of a hand-made piece.
