Three columns of Turkmen güls glow across a bright red field, each octagonal medallion quartered in cream, rust and indigo and linked by rows of small starry motifs. The clear red ground and finely knotted, high-quality weave give this small Bokhara a warm, classic character.
A run of many narrow guard borders in cream, rust and indigo — diamonds, hooked motifs and a banded gül border — frames the field, closing at each end into kilim-flatweave panels of latch-hook lattice. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from fine, high-quality hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense and closely clipped, giving crisp definition to every gül and border. Coloured with warm, natural-looking dyes and worked entirely by hand, the red ground carries a gentle abrash, and every medallion is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.
