Rows of Turkmen güls cover a warm camel field, each octagonal medallion centred with a stepped diamond in green, red and ivory and linked by rows of small motifs. The golden ground and colourful medallions give this square Bokhara a warm, richly patterned character.

A run of many narrow guard borders in camel, green and black — diamonds, hooked motifs and a diamond-lattice band — frames the field on all four sides, closing into banded panels of latch-hook lattice. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense and closely clipped, giving crisp definition to every gül and border. Coloured with warm, natural-looking dyes and worked entirely by hand, the camel ground carries a gentle abrash, and every medallion is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

The Bokhara takes its name from the Central Asian city of Bukhara, where Turkmen weavers set their fields with rows of güls — octagonal medallions. Woven here as a square on a warm camel ground, the medallions are filled with colourful green and red diamonds, framed by many fine borders. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from natural-dyed highland wool, every medallion is worked by hand — the fingerprint of a one-of-a-kind piece.
