Dense rows of small Turkmen güls cover a soft cream field, each octagonal medallion quartered in deep red, blue and ivory and linked by rows of tiny stepped diamonds. The pale ground and warm red medallions give this large Bokhara a bright, classic, welcoming character.
A run of many narrow guard borders in red, blue and ivory — diamonds, hooked motifs and a scalloped medallion band — frames the field, closing at each end into banded panels of latch-hook lattice. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense and closely clipped, giving crisp definition to every gül and border. Coloured with soft, natural-looking dyes and worked entirely by hand, the cream ground carries a gentle abrash, and every medallion is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.
