Rows of quartered Turkmen güls — the octagonal elephant-foot medallions that define Bokhara weaving — march in ordered columns across a deep madder-red field. Each is divided into quarters of ivory, black and soft salmon, with slender diamond secondary motifs set between the rows, giving the whole ground its calm, architectural repeat.

Multiple guard borders in ivory and indigo frame the field, closing at the base into a banded elem panel of diagonal lattice-work. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from fine, high-quality highland wool, the pile is dense and evenly clipped, giving crisp definition to every gül and border. Coloured with rich, natural-looking dyes and worked entirely by hand, the deep red glows with a gentle sheen — every medallion drawn just a little differently, the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

The Bokhara takes its name from the old Central Asian market city of Bukhara, where Turkmen tribes traded rugs woven with rows of güls — quartered octagonal medallions that are the signature of Turkmen weaving. Here they repeat in ordered columns across a deep madder-red field, in ivory, black and soft salmon, framed by ivory guard borders and a banded elem panel of diagonal lattice at the base. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from natural-dyed highland wool, every gül is worked by hand — the fingerprint of a one-of-a-kind piece.

Returns We accept returns within 7 days of delivery. Items must be unused and in their original condition. To start a return, contact our customer support.
