Rows of small Turkmen güls rest on a soft, warm beige field, each octagonal medallion quartered in deep brown and black and linked by rows of tiny stepped diamonds. The pale, sandy ground gives this Bokhara a light, neutral character that sits easily in a calm interior.

A run of many narrow guard borders in brown, black and ivory — diamonds, hooked motifs and a scalloped medallion band — frames the field, closing at each end into banded panels of latch-hook lattice. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense and closely clipped, giving crisp definition to every gül and border. Coloured with soft, natural-looking dyes and worked entirely by hand, the beige ground carries a gentle abrash, and every medallion is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

The Bokhara takes its name from the Central Asian city of Bukhara, where Turkmen weavers set their fields with rows of güls — quartered octagonal medallions. This piece is woven on a soft, neutral beige ground, the güls drawn in deep brown and black and framed by many fine borders. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from natural-dyed highland wool, every medallion is worked by hand — the fingerprint of a one-of-a-kind piece.
