Rows of small Turkmen güls rest on a soft warm-grey field, each octagonal medallion quartered in gold, black and cream and linked by rows of tiny stepped diamonds. The pale, neutral ground and warm golden medallions give this square Bokhara a soft, contemporary look while keeping its traditional structure.
A run of many narrow guard borders in grey, gold and black — diamonds, hooked motifs and a scalloped medallion band — frames the field on all four sides, closing into banded panels of latch-hook lattice. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense and closely clipped, giving crisp definition to every gül and border. Coloured with soft, natural-looking dyes and worked entirely by hand, the grey ground carries a gentle abrash, and every medallion is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.
