A deep pine-green field is scattered with rows of small stepped diamond medallions in cream, gold and soft rose, each one finely outlined and centred with a floral rosette. The rich green ground gives this Jaldar a jewel-like depth, while the delicate all-over lattice keeps it light and endlessly detailed.
A broad cream border carries a procession of stars, rosettes and hooked motifs, wrapped by many narrow guard stripes in green, gold and indigo that frame the field on all four sides. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense and closely clipped, giving crisp definition to every diamond and border flower. Worked entirely by hand with warm, natural-looking dyes, the green ground carries a gentle abrash and each motif is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind piece.
