A vivid red field carries a dense all-over lattice of small diamond medallions and eight-pointed stars, each filled with polychrome florals in green, blue, cream, gold and salmon. The finely knotted, jewel-box repeat gives this square rug a rich, colourful, tribal-classical character.
A broad multi-band border in cream, indigo and gold — running triangles, hooked diamonds and star rosettes — frames the field on all four sides. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from fine, hand-spun wool with an added measure of silk, the pile is closely clipped for crisp definition, and the silk lends the many colours a soft, shifting sheen. Every motif is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.
