Ruby Red & Cream Diamond Jaldar Rug, Hand-Knotted Pakistani Wool & Silk

A deep ruby-red field is worked all over with small stepped diamond güls in cream, camel and soft blue, each finely outlined and set in ordered rows. The rich red ground and delicate lattice give this Jaldar a warm, glowing depth, lifted by the quiet sheen of its wool-and-silk pile.

A broad camel border carries rows of latch-hook diamonds and hooked motifs, bracketed by many narrow guard stripes in red, cream and indigo that frame the field on all four sides. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from a blend of 80% fine highland wool and 20% lustrous silk, the pile is dense and closely clipped, catching the light so the medallions shift between matte and shine as you move around the rug. Worked entirely by hand with warm, natural-looking dyes, the red ground carries a gentle abrash and each motif is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind piece.
