Two columns of stepped-diamond güls run the length of a warm terracotta-rust field, drawn in camel, salmon, ivory and black, with slim diamond motifs set between the rows. The soft, coppery ground gives this fine Jaldar a gentler, more sun-warmed character than the usual deep red.
A run of guard borders in camel, rust and black — diamonds, hooked motifs and a scalloped medallion band — frames the field, closing at the base into an ivory panel of running boteh. Hand-knotted in Pakistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is closely clipped and finely knotted, giving crisp definition to every diamond and border. Coloured with soft, natural-looking dyes and worked entirely by hand, the field carries a gentle abrash, and every gül is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.
