A deep red field carrying two kinds of medallion in alternation down the centre line: large flat-topped hexagons in apricot, cream and sage, each ringed with small square latch-hooks and comb-like appendages, and between every pair a couple of smaller serrated star-diamonds in navy and apricot. Every hexagon is filled differently, with its own arrangement of stars, crosses and rosettes. A tan main border of hooked motifs frames it, with narrow dogtooth guard bands and cream fringe at both ends.

Hand-knotted in wool. Everything is drawn rectilinearly, every outline built from right-angled steps on the knot grid. At 78×305cm this is a runner for a hallway or a landing, and a deep red ground is practical for a space that gets constant traffic. The alternating medallions give the design a measured rhythm along its length, which suits a corridor better than a single repeated motif would.

100% wool pile, hand-knotted, with a natural fringe at both ends. Wool is resilient and forgiving underfoot, which makes this a practical choice for a corridor that gets real use.

The deep red ground hides everyday marks well but shows lint and pale fibres. A runner takes concentrated traffic down its centre line rather than spread across a field, so use a rug pad and rotate it end for end regularly.

This is Caucasian design vocabulary rather than Turkmen, and three things mark the difference. First, the medallions alternate: large flat-topped hexagons and pairs of smaller serrated stars take turns down the centre line, where a Turkmen gül field repeats one emblem without variation. Second, the latch-hooks — the small square projections around each hexagon and the comb-like appendages at top and bottom. Those are a Caucasian signature and do not appear on a Bokhara or Jaldar gül. Third, each medallion is filled differently. Compare any two hexagons and the arrangement of stars, crosses and rosettes inside them is not the same, whereas a gül repeats an identical quartered fill every time. The result is a design that rewards walking along it: on a runner, alternation and variation give the eye something new every few feet, where a single repeated motif would simply become a texture underfoot.
