A warm rust-orange fills this hand-knotted Gabbeh from edge to edge, its colour glowing and shifting in soft bands of abrash where the natural dye lots change. With no pattern or border to distract, the rug is all about the depth and movement of a single, beautiful colour — terracotta in some lights, burnt amber in others. A faint central line and the gentle striations are the honest traces of the loom.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool rich in lanolin, the pile is dense and soft underfoot and naturally resistant to everyday wear. Because the rust is built entirely from natural dye, the field is alive with subtle variation that no machine-made rug can copy — the mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind piece.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.

  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.
