A warm rust field comes alive with colour in this finely knotted Afghani Sherwan — three cream-and-green star medallions run down the centre, surrounded by a rainbow of small güls, diamonds and hooked motifs in green, blue, gold, red and cream. An ivory border of running-dog zigzags and star-flowers, flanked by navy guard stripes, frames the lively field.
Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense and finely knotted, giving sharp definition to every motif and border. Coloured with natural dyes and worked entirely by hand, the tones glow with gentle abrash and every figure is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.
