A warm red field is filled edge to edge with an all-over pattern of small star-güls and cross-flowers — a shimmer of gold, blue, green and cream — in this finely knotted Afghani Sherwan. A wide ivory border of güls and palmettes, flanked by teal guard stripes and a running-heart border, frames the busy field. It has the crisp, repeating geometry of a classic Caucasian Shirvan weave.
Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from fine, hand-spun highland wool, the pile is dense and finely knotted, giving sharp definition to every motif and border. Coloured with natural dyes and worked entirely by hand, the tones glow with gentle abrash and every figure is drawn a little differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.
