A deep madder-red field carries this hand-knotted rug, covered corner to corner with the hooked diamond güls of the Yomut Turkmen — row upon row of small serrated medallions locked into a fine diagonal lattice, in ivory, indigo and dark brown against the glowing red ground. Broad skirt (elem) panels of stepped diamonds finish each end, the traditional signature of a Turkmen weaving. The discipline of the endless repeat is the design.
It is hand-knotted in Afghanistan by master weavers working in the older Turkmen and Caucasian traditions, with a fine, even knot count, a low clipped pile and flat-woven kilim ends. The wool is hand-spun and coloured with natural dyes, which give the madder red its depth and the gentle, light-catching variation that machine-made rugs can never reproduce. Multiple ivory and gold guard borders of geometric tribal motifs frame the field and draw the whole piece together.
Densely woven and built to last for generations, this is a collector-grade piece — equally at home as the centrepiece of a formal living or dining room or as an heirloom investment. As a hand-made rug, it is genuinely one of a kind.

Care instructions
- Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
- Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
- Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
- Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
- Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.
This rug repeats the hooked diamond gül of the Yomut, one of the great Turkmen tribes of Central Asia, whose weavings are built on the endless, disciplined repeat of a single tribal medallion. Across a deep madder-red ground, rows of small serrated güls lock into a fine diagonal lattice in ivory, indigo and dark brown, while broad skirt panels of stepped diamonds close each end in the traditional Turkmen manner. Knotted entirely by hand in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool and natural dyes, the red glows with subtle abrash and no two güls are exactly alike — the fingerprint of a single weaver at the loom rather than a machine.
