A warm golden field carries three bold star medallions — worked in black, red and cream — down its length in this hand-knotted Kazak. Small crosses, stylised trees, birds and tribal figures fill the ground, all framed by a cream-and-gold border of hooked ‘X’ motifs and stylised flowers. It has the clear, graphic drawing that makes Kazak rugs instantly recognisable.
Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun highland wool, the pile is thick, lustrous and hard-wearing. The colours are drawn from natural dyes, so the gold glows with abrash and every motif is drawn slightly differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.
