A rich madder-red field blazes with a lattice of bold eight-pointed Lesghi stars in this hand-knotted Kazak — the great stepped medallions worked in gold, teal, green and indigo, linked by hooked crosses and small tribal figures. Wide golden borders, packed with running latch-hooks, zigzags and geometric flowers, frame the fiery centre. It has all the confident scale and glowing colour that make Kazak rugs so loved.

Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun highland wool, the pile is thick, lustrous and hard-wearing. The colours are drawn from natural dyes, so the red glows with abrash and every star is drawn slightly differently — the honest mark of a genuine one-of-a-kind, hand-made piece.

Material: 100 percent hand-spun Afghan wool, naturally rich in lanolin, which gives it softness, a subtle sheen, and a natural resistance to everyday dirt and spills.

Care instructions

  • Vacuum regularly on low suction without a rotating brush.
  • Rotate the rug occasionally so it wears and fades evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth, working from the outside in, and do not rub.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour.
  • Use a professional rug cleaner for any deep clean.
  • Light shedding is normal with new wool and settles within the first few months.

The Kazak is one of the boldest of all tribal weaves — descended from the mountain villages of the Caucasus, it favours large, powerful medallions on clear, saturated grounds. Here a red field carries rows of eight-pointed Lesghi stars, a classic Caucasian talisman, framed by richly hooked borders. Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from natural-dyed highland wool, every star is worked by hand — the fingerprint of a one-of-a-kind piece.
