The Sherwan design traces back to the Caucasus, where village weavers covered deep madder-red grounds with rhythmic rows of star-medallions, blossoms and protective talismanic motifs. This Afghan-woven interpretation keeps that geometric, tribal spirit alive — every motif drawn slightly by hand, so no two are exactly alike — and surrounds it with layered ivory and indigo borders that give the piece its formal, heirloom presence.
